Do you really need all that stuff? The seven stars in Harwood is not the biggest venue we'll ever play. So I decided that I should take as much technical stuff with me as I could! After all, we have more room now that we're a five piece. Don't we?
So my "floor setup" for the night consisted of my guitar synthesiser, my Boss OD pedal, an A/B box, the trusty Zoom 8080 multi effects, my new wah wah pedal, and more leads than I've ever used in my life. Setting it all up was a nightmare of stress for me. And of course it took me two attempts before I got it all working together. But it did make for probably the best sound I've had at a gig for some time. And the best part of it all was that I ran the whole lot through my H-H Studio 30 combo, and then had it miked up through the front of house PA system.
As good as the night was for me though, I feel I should apologise to the rest of the band for taking up about six feet (at least!)of valuable floor space. But you all know you wanted a sax solo on Money. And some excessive use of the wah wah pedal on just about any song I thought it would work on! And on the bright side, I did only take three guitars for the night!
And thanks to a section of the crowd for christening me Angus for the night. I'll bet Angus couldn't have put the Whole lot of Rosie riff into Long train runnin' though!
Two new songs where added to the set in the shape of Hotel California and my all time favourite song Layla. Both songs went down a storm and I'm going to state right here and now that within two weeks as least ten lesser talented bands than ourselves will be "thrashing" them both out at a bad covers gig near you! Leave it to the pro's boys and girls. You'll hurt yourselves!
